Paul and Barnabas Preaching in Lystra
Met with people filled with Idol-worship
Bowing down to Mercurius and Jupiter
Rejected the word, shunned the fellowship
They said they will see before they believe

Cripple man was healed, birthing euphoria
‘The gods have come down to us they all said.’
Called their priests, ‘Sacrifice let us offer ‘
Paula and Barnabas, horrified, tore clothes, said,
How dare you sacrifice to us, we’re mere men.

Soon the news spread and spoilers from Iconium came
They concocted falsehood, poisoning their hearts
So they stoned those who preached in Jesus’ name
Paul, left for dead, as carried away, cold in the heart
Believers wept surrounding him, and soon he was up.

Next day he preached in other city courageously
They returned to previous converts comforting them
Sharing the news of God’s favour excitingly
Disciples in Antioch rejoiced as they heard them.
Giving glory to the Living God.
Acts 14:8-28
