When she was younger and aspiring to have babies the doctors told her, ‘Forget it. You’re severely anaemic; besides you only have one tube in your womb. There is no way you can have children. It is ill-advised to even try’. She refuse that sentence and relied on her Maker Who had the last word. And so she had miracle babies, one after another.-three beautiful girls in quick succession. The doctors could not understand what was going on. They ate their words. Her husband was initially elated to have a child, but when it turned out to be three girls he thought he had more than he had bargained for. He desperately needed boy. He actually preferred boys. So friction was unleashed on the relationship when Victoria broke the news, ‘Darling I am pregnant.’ He was so sure it would be another girl and was no longer amused and planed a pre-emptive action. He was afraid he was going to be the dad of FOUR girls! What was he going to do when boys start streaming in for their hands and their hearts? Could he cope with other ramifications of having girls, he must have thought. To cut a long story short there was a parting of ways. Meanwhile Victoria had heard from the Lord and He assured her it would be a boy this time round. . She held on to the promise in spite of the provocation. She kept confessing the Word of God, reaffirming the promise despite contrary winds. She even told the doctors she was expecting a boy and they wandered how she knew. It turned out to be true when she gave birth to a beautiful bouncing little bay boy. To God be the glory! Unfortunately, they lost their house to the mortgage lender and she and the children were now in dire straights. It was another trying time for Victoria. She had been blessed with a baby boy as she had desired but she was now being broken. She kept trusting God to provide. Meanwhile, she also thought it would be a good idea to go and improve her skills by taking a course in a university. Imagine combining looking after four children alone as a single parent and going back to study. It was extremely tough but she was determined. She grappled with the researches and the essays and coursework coming from left right and centre, meeting deadlines as was required. And by the grace of God it came to pass as she passed her final exams and bagged a good qualification. The next challenge was to get a job. She applied to many places but kept receiving letters of regret. Then she resorted to applying for jobs that were even very lowly paid just to break into the system. She was challenged from time to time to try even the high-powered jobs and trust God to make a way where there seemed no way. Inspired, she went for the jugular, applying to a position that require lots of experience, but had to do with counselling people who had domestic abuse problems. She was called for an interview and at the interview it dawned on her that she had the practical experience of domestic abuse they were looking for even though she had not worked in that capacity for any reasonable time. The panel was impressed by are responses to their questions and offered her the job .with a salary and benefit beyond her dreams. The bosses were very kind and welcoming, however there were others she was directly in -charge of who were seething, wondering why she got the job in spite of her lack of work experience. They sneered and ganged up against her and made her life living hell. “Why should she be up there soon after coming out of university?” some reasoned She embarked on praying and fasting, realising it was an enemy attacked designed to dampen what God had one for her.. God turned it all around. Their countenance changed towards her. She now has favour with everyone and being treated like a celebrity. What are you going through today? Victoria’s God is your God if Jesus is your Lord and Saviour. Yes, we go through difficult times. And often it is a blessing followed by a breaking but Jesus is Lord through it all. He knows the way that we take and He is the Way Maker when there seems to be no way. When we put our trust in Him He makes everything beautiful in His time. He allows certain difficulties to come our way, not because He is against us but because He wants us to mature, be stronger get to know Him and trust Him more. Victoria had no hope of having children according to medical science but God had the final word. Now look at what the Lord has done. She lost her house and husband and was struggling with four children alone but received wisdom to take the bull by the horn and go back to school. See what the Lord has done. It was difficult to get a job after successfully completing the university course, but look at what the Lord has done. They ganged up against her at work, but Jesus has turned it all around. In her testimony she said, ‘Often you have to be bruised to be used’, echoing the word of the Lord when he said in John12:24 “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Our light affliction, Paul said works for us. 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen, is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2Cor4;16-18NIV) V8 says We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. ( 2Cor.4:8)NIV 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Rom8:28)NIV Trust, watch and pray. Your victory is round the corner. If He can do it for Victoria, He can do it for you. He is no respecter of persons but without faith, it is not possible to please God. Learn from those who through patience and endurance obtained the promise. The just shall live by faith. Weeping may endure for the night but joy is coming in the morning. You may be down but you’re not out. It is not over until it is over. ‘The darker the night, the nearer the dawn’. ‘A quitter never wins and a winner never quits.’ Like an eagle, use the adverse winds that kill other birds and sail, soar into victory, like Victoria.
